Who Can Apply from the UAE?

The applicant must be a resident of the UAE. You can apply for a Schengen visa from any city that has a VFS visa center. Where your Emirates ID was issued doesn't matter.

Document requirements (A4 format)

  1. Signed visa application form (Schengen.pdf) and the receipt from the UDI Portal (www.udi.no/en)

  2. Original current passport. Passport must be valid at least 3 months beyond intended travel, issued within the previous 10 years, and containing at least two blank pages. And copy of biodata page from passport.

  3. One passport photo of the applicant with white background (not older than six months). Do not staple or glue the picture to the application form

  4. Copy of valid residence permit in United Arab Emirates (UAE) Residence permit valid three months beyond the intended date of departure from the territory of the Member States or, for GCC citizens, a UAE-ID-card, valid for three months after the intended departure date from the territory of the Member States.

  5. Travel itinerary: Detailed plan and information about tourist attractions etc, that the applicant is planning to visit, including dates, transportation and hotels and information about who you are travelling with.

  6. Proof of financial means: Bank statements for the past three months signed and stamped by the bank or any verifiable evidence of sufficient means of subsistence during the intended stay, e.g. salary slips for the past three months. Other financial commitments, such as ownership of property and savings. You need to document to have the equivalent of NOK 500 per day/person if you are covering the travel and living expenses yourself.

  7. Valid travel medical insurance for the duration of the stay in Schengen area with a minimum coverage of EURO 30.000.

  8. Flight reservation (round trip, maximum 90 days) Note: Do not purchase the ticket until visa has been granted

  9. Other supporting documents; • Copy of family member(s) residence permit in the UAE (If applicable) • Information of length of residence in the UAE (How long you have been residing in the UAE) • For students: proof/certificate of enrolment or valid student card. • For employees: original letter from employer stating the applicant’s employment status, position, length of contract and salary. • Self-employed persons: Valid original trade license

Step-by-Step Guide to the Application Process

  1. Identify visa type (Choose the right visa for your trip).

  2. Begin your application (Get started with your visa application). Once you are ready to apply, go to the Royal Norwegian Embassy website for guidelines about the application process and to register your application online. You may also access the online application Portal directly here.

  3. Prepare Documents: Ensure all required documents are ready and properly organized.

  4. Book an Appointment:

    • Once you’ve booked your appointment, you’ll receive an appointment confirmation email along with the letter of appointment.

    • If you are part of a family or group, you’ll have to book individual appointments for each member of the family or group.

  5. Pay your fees.

  6. Applicants must complete the application form in the UDI portal and pay the applicable visa fee online.

  7. There is a service charge levied per application over and above the visa handling fee. This fee has to be paid at the Visa application centre.

  8. Visit a Visa Application Centre: You’ll have to submit your complete visa application form at the Visa Application Centre in person.

  9. Track your application (Stay informed about the progress of your application)

  10. Collect your passport: After a decision has been made, you can pick up your documents from the Visa Application Centre or have your documents returned to you by courier for an additional fee. When you collect your documents, you must bring the receipt issued by the Visa Application Centre and a form of official identification document (ID).

Processing Time

The minimum processing time for the application at the Embassy of Norway is approximately 15 calendar days.

Please be advised that due to the above mentioned minimum processing time, we are not able to guarantee the return of passports by specific dates for travel.
