Who Can Apply from the UAE?
The applicant must be a resident of the UAE. You can apply for a Schengen visa from any city that has a VFS visa center. Where your Emirates ID was issued doesn't matter.

Application form Duly filled in (English, German, French, Italian) and completed, dated and signed by the applicant himself or the legal guardian. If the applicant is a minor under the age of 18, both parents must sign the form and add a copy of their passports. If one of the parents is unable to sign the form, he/she must submit a letter of agreement together with a copy of his/her passport. The application form can be downloaded from the website.
All documents 2 must be in English, translated to English, or in an official Swiss language.
One recent passport photograph (not older than 6 months), size must be 3.5 x 4.5 cm with a light background. Photo glued on application form. Head covers are not permitted except for religious reasons. Full visibility of the face.
Passport
• The original passport (linked to United Arab Emirates/Bahrain resident permit).
• The passport must contain the signature of the passport holder.
• The passport must contain at least two sequent empty pages.
• The passport issued within the last 10 years.
• The passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond the intended departure date from the Schengen States.
Accommodation Proof of accommodation for each night as per the entire intended trip in Schengen (for example confirmed hotel reservation(s), copy of rental contract or proof of residential property).
Flight ticket Copy of flight reservation (incl. return flight).
Travel insurance A travel medical insurance covering emergency medical, hospitalization and repatriation (including in case of death). The minimum cover should be of 30.000 EUR. This insurance must be valid for the entire Schengen area and throughout the duration of the stay.
Financial means Verifiable evidence of sufficient means of subsistence during intended stay: a) Payslips b) a valid international credit card accompanied bank statements c) bank account statements for the last three month; or d) a national form for proof of sponsorship and/or accommodation
Company letter of your employer and trade license OR NOC letter spouse/children
• For the company letter: on a proper letterhead in original with contact details incl. email and phone numbers, duly stamped and with the name and position of the signatory (scanned or electronic signatures are not accepted). Please note that also the company’s owner requires such letter however, not signed by him/herself. The letter must contain the following information about the visa applicant: the company, position, joining date, salary and the dates of the approved leave. The company has to assure/confirm the continuation of the employment after the desired trip abroad. If your sponsor is not a commonly known Swiss or multi-national company, also hotel confirmation(s), trade license and bank statements (last 3 months) is required.
• For applicants under spouse’s or parent’s visa: NOC letter from the (resident visa) sponsor
• Self-employed persons: need to submit the original trade license.
Minors Minors travelling without their parents/legal guardian: original authorization signed by their parents/legal guardian in front of a visa officer or duly legalized and copy of passport(s) of parents/legal guardian.
United Arab Emirates or Bahrain resident permit Has to be valid for another three months (3) after the intended departure from the Schengen States. GCC citizens shall submit a copy of their valid United Arab Emirates/Bahrain resident permit card.
Household employees
Letter of your employer / sponsor. The letter must contain the following information about the visa applicant: the sponsor/household, position, joining date, salary and the dates of the approved leave, eventually with the sponsor’s family. The sponsor/household has to assure/confirm the continuation of the employment after the desired trip abroad.
Note for children and spouses of Swiss and EU/EFTA nationals: Points 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 do not apply. Instead, please include the following documents: Copy of valid Swiss or EU/EFTA passport (of spouse/parent) and proof of family relation (copy of marriage or birth certificate, legalized by the competent UAE / Bahrain authorities).

Book an Appointment:
Once you’ve booked your appointment, you’ll receive an appointment confirmation email along with the letter of appointment. Each individual applying for a visa requires a separate appointment and will submit a separate application. For example, if a family or group of five is applying for visas, then 5 appointments must be made. If you are part of a family or group, you’ll have to book individual appointments for each member of the family or group.
Pay your fees: Once you have made your application, you will need to pay your visa application fee. Visa fees payment must be made at the time of your appointment. Payment for Service charges should be made online.
Visit a Visa Application Centre. You’ll have to submit your complete visa application form at the Visa Application Centre in person.

Usually, processing time for visa applications is 15 calendar days (starting from the time when the Embassy or Consulate received the application, not including the transportation time), counting from when all requested documents have been submitted. This period may be extended in specific cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is required, for example, when an applicant must come to an interview or submit additional documentation requested by the Embassy or Consulate. During certain times of the year, the processing time can be longer due to the high volume of applications. It is recommended to submit your visa application at least two weeks prior to date of travel date and if possible, even earlier ahead of the holiday period.
