Documents Required

For Minors, please click here.

  1. Filled out and signed visa application form. All sections must be filled out. State that an item is not applicable with N/A. Please indicate your e-mail address and a contact phone number.

  2. Valid national passport. In order to apply for a visa:

    • Your passport must be valid at least 3 months longer than the intended stay.

    • Passport issued more than 10 years ago cannot be considered for the application (regardless if the passport is still valid/was prolonged).

    • At least two pages must be empty in the visa section of the passport.

  3. Proof of resident status in the UK: UK Residence permit, endorsed in the passport or issued as a Biometrics card and/or digital proof of immigration status issued by UK Home Office (share code), must be valid for at least 1 month beyond the return date of the trip to the Schengen Area; C type visitor visa (see here) is not acceptable.

  4. Proof of Purpose of Travel - Tourism

    • Confirmed hotel booking for the full stay in the Schengen area or any other appropriate document stating the planned accommodation; or

    • Booking confirmation of a European tour or any other appropriate document.

  5. Proof of travel arrangements: Detailed travel itinerary from departure to return, such as flight/train/bus (roundtrip) tickets or other proof of intended transport. If you are driving to Slovenia, please provide details of the vehicle and driver(s) (rent-a-car confirmation, proof of ownership of vehicle, driving licence) as well as ferry/Euroshuttle tickets.

  6. Proof of employment / Proof of student status: Reference letter from employer stating your position and salary or recent pay slips (last three months). / A recent, officially signed letter from a UK school, college or university stating dates of enrolment and expected completion of studies, name of the applicant and type of studies.

If self-employed: recent letter from an accountant, banker or a solicitor (official headed letter with name, date of issue, address, telephone number and position of signatory and registration number in the UK) stating self-employment or business ownership in the UK or letter from the tax authorities

  7. Proof of sufficient financial means for the intended journey: Bank account statements for the last three months; bank statements must show the name and address of holder(s). Electronic printouts are accepted. Credit card(s) and credit card account statement indicating the cardholder’s name and address. The statement must contain information on the monthly limit or the spending cap.

  8. Medical travel insurance document: Applicants must present travel medical insurance with a minimum coverage of 30.000 EUR, valid throughout the territory of Schengen member states. Insurance must cover any expenses which might arise in connection with urgent medical attention, emergency hospital treatment or repatriation for medical reasons, or repatriation of remains.

    • Applicants for a visa for one or two entries must prove that they are in possession of travel medical insurance covering the whole period of their stay in Schengen area.

    • Applicants for a visa for multiple entries shall prove that they are in possession of travel medical insurance covering the period of their first intended visit. The insurance must only cover the period of effective stay, not the validity of the visa. However, in cases of multiple entry visas, the insurance must be bought for each trip to the Schengen area – failure to provide proof of insurance at the border is grounds for denial of entry into the Schengen area countries. We suggest the insurance coverage is a couple of days longer than the intended stay, for cases of delayed flights or similar.

    • Make sure that your insurance coverage letter will meet all the requirements and all information clearly shown.

    • Full policies will not be studied.

    • PLEASE NOTE: the insurance coverage letter is a compulsory document*. If the Medical insurance document is missing, the visa application will not be accepted.

🚨 The documents may vary depending on the purpose and applicant's details 🚨

Step-by-Step Guide to the Application Process

  • Identify visa type (Choose the right visa for your trip).

  • Begin your application (Get started with your visa application).

    • Once you are ready to apply, you can download the visa application form, complete it, print the complete form and bring it with you to the Visa Application Centre (together with the documents required for the Visa category chosen) for submission.

  • Prepare Documents: Ensure all required documents are ready and properly organized.

  • Book an Appointment: Once you’ve booked your appointment, you’ll receive an appointment confirmation email along with the letter of appointment. If you are part of a family or group, you’ll have to book individual appointments for each member of the family or group.

  • Pay the Fees: Once you have made your application, you will need to pay your visa application fee. If you download the form to print and bring to the Visa Application Centre, payment will be made at the time of your appointment. You can pay the visa fee at the visa application centre

  • Submit Application: Attend the appointment at the visa center, submit your documents, and provide biometrics.

  • Track your application (Stay informed about the progress of your application)

  • Collect your passport: After a visa application decision has been made, you can pick up your passport from the Visa Application Centre or have your passport returned to you by courier for an additional fee.

Processing Time

The minimum processing time for a visa application is 15 calendar days, so applicants are advised to leave enough time - between the appointment date and travel date - for the Mission to process their visa application; no guarantees can be given on the visa application’s return date as delays may occur.

For certain nationalities (see list here) the visa application needs consultation from the other Schengen countries and therefore the minimum processing time processing period may be extended up to a maximum of 45 calendar days in individual cases, notably when further scrutiny of the application is needed.
