Who Can Apply from the UK?

Legal status in the UK: Passports, travel documents and residence cards must have a validity of at least three months beyond the last day of your trip in the Schengen Area. In order to apply, you must be resident in the Consular district: England, Scotland, Northern Ireland, Wales, Isle of Man, Isle of Wight, Channel Islands, Gibraltar and South Georgia & Sandwich Islands. Please note that applicants not residing in the mentioned area or holders of a UK C-visit visa are not eligible to apply.

Documents Required

I. General requirements for all applicants.

A duly completed and both signed VisaOnWeb application form (Signed copy)

• The VisaOnWeb form with the bar code is available once the registration via VisaOnWeb is completed.

• Passport (Original) • A signed full national private passport or official travel document issued less than 10 years ago; • Valid for at least more than 3 months beyond the validity of the requested visa; • With two blank pages side by side with the mention ‘visa’ to affix the visa sticker; • And without any damage. Copy of the passport bio-page • Page with photo.

• UK passport sized ID photos meeting the ICAO standards • attached with a paper clip; • in color; • size 3.5cm X 4.5cm • white plain background. • Less than 3 months old.

• Proof of residency in the UK:

  • Print-out of your sharecode to check either your immigration status or your right to work in the UK (please do not print out your own status check as that will not be sufficient as your status needs to be checked by the TLScontact agent). Please note that you need to show proof that you have at least one month left of residency in the UK once you leave the Schengen area.

• Valid travel health insurance (Copy)

  • Covering any costs of repatriation for medical reasons, emergency medical care and/or emergency hospital care or death during your stay/s on the SCHENGEN territory. This insurance must be valid for the whole of this territory and the whole of the stay. The minimum cover is 30,000 EUR. [EHIC cards are not accepted as proof of valid travel health insurance]. The insurance should be taken out with a company based in the applicant’s country of residence or in a Member State.

• Proof of reserved return ticket to the United Kingdom, or proof of onward travel (if not returning to the United Kingdom)

  • Such as authorisation of entry into the country of destination, confirmed overseas ticket, proof of sufficient means to cover such costs

• Proof of accommodation or of sufficient means to cover the costs of accommodation

  • If relevant, such proof may be given through a proof of sponsorship by means of an official form (certificate of board and lodging).

• Nominative United Kingdom bank account statements covering at least the last three months and showing the balance.

• Credit card(s) and credit card account statement indicating the cardholder’s name and address.

  • The statement must contain information on the monthly limit or the spending cap.

• If the applicant is financially supported by:

  • his/her spouse: a) a marriage certificate; b) the spouse’s bank account statements (see above); and c) a statement of will to support the spouse.

  • her/his parent(s): a) proof of family relationship, e.g. birth certificate; b) the parent(s) bank account statement (see above); and c) a statement of will to support the applicant.

□ Employees: a) Recent, official and signed letter from their employer with name, date of issue, address, contact details, position of signatory and registration number in the United Kingdom. The position salary of the employee should also be indicated; and b) pay slips for the last three months.

□ Self-employed: a) Recent, official and signed letter from an accountant, banker or solicitor with name, date of issue, address, contact details, position of signatory and registration number in the United Kingdom, stating the nature of the self-employment or business ownership in the United Kingdom. The letter must also state the annual salary drawn from the company; and b) self-assessment form edited by revenue and customs authorities.

□ Students: Recent, official and signed letter from school, college or university in the United Kingdom stating date of issue, name of the applicant, type of studies, number of lessons (hours) per week and attendance record.

□ Minors: (children below 18 years) a) birth certificate; and For minors travelling alone or with only one parent (exceptions are made if one parent has the sole custody or residence order for the child): b) original passports of both parents, or certified copy of the biodata page of the passports; c) proof of consent of parental authority or legal guardian; and d) British school certificate. In the case of sole custody, the following documents must be submitted: a) birth certificate mentioning one parent; b) death certificate of absent parent; or c) court ruling.

II. Documents to be submitted depending on the purpose of travel.

Tourism: – confirmed hotel booking for the full stay in the territory of a Member State or proof of sufficient means to cover accommodation during the intended stay; or – booking confirmation of a tour or any other appropriate document, such as the list of persons taking part in the tour.

Private (family/friends) visit: – if no sponsorship form [All relevant information on the Belgian sponsorship form is available to your sponsor HERE (in Dutch) and HERE (in French)] has been presented: copy of the biodata page of the passport or residence permit of the host in the Member State and proof of (family) relationship.

2. Complete The Visa On Web Form (MFA Website)

   1. You need to fill out the VOW form here

   2. After clicking the "Make Appointment" button on the Visa On Web website, you will be redirected to the TLScontact website.

   3. On the TLScontact website, submit the form that was automatically created after completing the VOW form.

   4. After your first login on TLScontact, you’ll receive an email from TLS with an account activation link, and you'll need to set a password to access your TLS account.

3. Book an Appointment: Schedule a time to submit your documents and biometrics.

4. Submit Your Application: Attend your appointment, submit documents, and provide biometrics.

5. Pay the Fee: Fees vary based on visa type and processing times.

6. Track Your Visa Application. Post-appointment, you can track your visa application online. This tracking allows you to stay updated on whether your application is still under process, has been approved, or rejected. The standard processing time is up to 15 working days.

7. Collect Your Visa. After approval, you'll receive a notification to collect your visa from the TLS Contact.

FAQ

• Can I get my visa on the same day I apply?

  • No, there is no same day service, please see Processing Time page.

• My passport is damaged. Can I still apply?

  • If you wish to apply even though your passport is damaged, it may increase the risk of refusal by the Consular authority.

  • A discharge document will be provided to you on the day of your application submission. TlScontact can’t be held liable once you have signed this document.

  • Please note that the service fees won’t be refunded in case of refusal by the Consular authority.

• I have a valid British residency permit. Do I need another visa to travel to Belgium?

  • As the United Kingdom is not part of the Schengen Area, you may need a Schengen visa to travel. A British residency permit confers to the holder no right of entry into the Schengen Area.

• My British residency/ passport expires soon. May I still be granted a visa?

  • For a short stay visit, your British residency permit and passport must be valid for 90 days after your intended date of departure from the Schengen Area. If you wish to apply, the decision will need to be taken by the Ministry, that process can take up to 85 days.

• How long will the visa valid for? Can I get a visa that will allow me several trips to the Schengen area?

  • The validity of the visa will be determined by the Embassy of Belgium in London by the visa officer when processing your application.

What will happen on the day of my appointment?

Please ensure that you plan your travel to arrive at the center slightly before your appointment time. Do not arrive too early as you may be asked to wait so that applicants arriving on time may be welcomed according to their appointment time.

At the welcome area, please have :

• your appointment checklist;

• passport;

• and application form ready for inspection.

1. At the Welcome area, a TLScontact agent will thoroughly check your documents for compliance with your application checklist.

2. At the Documentation area, you will then be issued with a submission confirmation document, which you must retain to retrieve your passport when it has been processed.

3. After confirming the documentation, you will be invited to make payment of fees.

4. After successful payment, you will be directed to the last step which is the biometric capture.
