Tourism - Family/Friend Visit

1. Passport & Residence Permit:

  • Valid signed passport, valid for at least 3 months upon return from Schengen states (containing 2 blank visa pages). If your passport is older than 10 years, please apply for a new passport.

  • Copy of passport (holder page, signature page, and all previous Schengen visas issued in the last 2 years).

  • UK residence permit (Original + photocopy), valid for at least 3 months upon return from Schengen states.


    2. Application form & Photograph:

  • Fully completed, signed, and dated application form. In case of a minor, the form needs to be signed by both parents/legal guardians. The link to the form is here or here.

  • Your details (name, signature, etc.) must be filled exactly as they appear in your passport.

  • One recent colour photograph (not older than 6 months), passport-size, with white or off-white background (meeting all photo requirements mentioned on the website).

3. Evidence of occupation/student status:

  • Any letter mentioned below must be hand-signed, less than 1 month old, addressed to the Czech embassy, and on letterheaded paper to be acceptable.

  • If employed: original, recent employment letter. Contracts are not accepted.

  • If self-employed: original, recent covering letter from an accountant, solicitor, bank manager, or company house, and the last tax return correctly showing applicant’s details such as name, address, Unique Taxpayer Reference, and National Insurance Number. If the first tax return has yet to be filed, a letter from HMRC containing the Unique Taxpayer Reference and National Insurance Number needs to be provided.

  • If Company Director: Director Service contract, Certificate of Incorporation, and Letter of Accountant need to be provided when owning the company.

  • If receiving benefits: original, recent letter which must be obtained from the local Jobcentre or DWP and a copy.

  • If student: original, recent student letter. Letters of enrolment are not accepted.

  • If being sponsored by your spouse: sponsorship letter, copy of sponsor’s passport (and valid visa if applicable), proof of relationship with sponsor (original marriage certificate and photocopy), sponsor’s employment letter, and sponsor’s last 3 months bank statements of UK current bank account.

  • If none of the above: a dated and signed cover letter explaining the applicant’s financial situation must be provided.

4. Evidence of sufficient funds:

Latest 3 months UK current bank account statements showing a positive balance (check minimum requirements on the website), including the name and address of the account holder. Traveller cheques can also be accepted.

5. Tickets (Flights, Coach, train, or ferry):

  • All documents provided regarding your transportation must mention the name of all travelers.

  • Travel bookings + itinerary.

  • When traveling by car, please provide the driver’s driving license, car registration, car insurance, and bookings/itinerary (ferry or Eurotunnel) showing the car’s registration number and passenger’s names.

  • If traveling through more Schengen countries, all evidence of transportation between countries needs to be provided too.

  • When paid through a travel agency, then receipt, invoice or payment confirmation should be provided

6. Accommodation:

  • Confirmed accommodation (hotel, hostel, camping,…) reservation mentioning applicant’s name, travel dates, and accommodation address details.

  • If the applicant’s name is not mentioned on the accommodation reservation, then a joint travel confirmation letter, signed and dated by the person whose name is on the reservation, must also be provided along with a photocopy of that same person’s passport/ID card + passport signature page, if the signature is not on the passport’s bio page.

  • When accommodation is reserved for a group, then a list with the names of the group members will also be required; alternatively, the group members' names may also be mentioned on the travel ticket.

  • Staying with friends or relatives in the Czech Republic:

  • Applicant must provide an original signed invitation letter, photocopy of both sides of the inviting person’s ID ("občanský průkaz" in Czech), or a copy of the passport’s bio page and a copy of the Czech residence permit if your host is not Czech.

  • The invitation letter needs to provide the exact dates the applicant is going to be staying with the invitee and the address where they will be staying.

  • A formal obligation can be obtained by your host at the regional office of the Czech Immigration Authority in the Czech Republic. It may replace some required supporting documents such as financial funds and proof of accommodation.

7. Travel insurance:

Travel insurance issued in the UK with a minimum coverage of €30,000 with full details of the applicant, start and expiry dates, and cover area. The entire duration of the trip and the entire Schengen area must be covered.

8. Minors need to also provide:

  • Original birth certificate and photocopy.

  • Original travel consent signed by both parents/legal guardians.

  • Copies of passports of both parents/legal guardians.

  • Proof of sole custody (in case of a single parent): when parents are divorced or one of the parents has deceased, then the same has to be demonstrated by court order (original to be seen) or death certificate (original to be seen)

  • Proof of legal guardianship (in case a guardian has been appointed by the parents): the guardianship letter and the guardian’s passport’s Bio page and signature page, if signature is not on Bio page

Conference, Medical, Cultural/Sports visa or Study and Professional Training:

In addition to all the above-mentioned documents (1 – 8), the following documents also need to be provided:

  • For Conference visa: Invitation letter or registration confirmation + receipt/payment confirmation to attend conference/fair/congress/seminar or workshop.

  • For Medical visa: Invitation letter to visit a medical facility for health treatment.

  • For Study or Professional Training: Invitation letter to visit an educational or scientific institution.

Please note: If you are an EEA/EU family member (spouse, child under the age of 21, or dependant parent) and you are traveling WITH your EEA/EU family member to the Czech Republic, you have the option to submit your application under this category if you meet the requirements!
