FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I apply from my home state's consulate?

Yes. Each Schengen consulate assigns specific Indian states or zones to its jurisdiction. Check the VFS jurisdiction map (Mumbai, Delhi, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata splits). Applying outside your zone causes immediate rejection.

Is Aadhaar mandatory?

No. Utility bill or rent agreement in your name works as residence proof. PAN copy is required for financial verification and is more important than Aadhaar.

What is the processing time?

15 calendar days standard for short-stay Schengen. Longer during May to August peak season. Apply 6 to 12 weeks before travel.

What is the minimum bank balance required?

Netherlands expects around 100 to 120 EUR per day, Sweden 450 SEK per day, Austria 60 EUR per day. Show 6 months of stable income, not just a balance snapshot.

Can my employer NOC be any format?

Yes on company letterhead, but it must contain: name, designation, joining date, salary, approved leave dates (exact start and end), HR contact email and phone, signature, company stamp. Missing one item is a frequent refusal cause.

Should I include PAN in the application form?

PAN copy is submitted as financial proof, NOT in Field 11 of the application form. Leave Field 11 (National Identity Number) blank.
