FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I apply in Istanbul if I live in Ankara?

Depends on the destination consulate. Many split Turkey by jurisdiction (Istanbul handles western, Ankara handles central, Izmir handles Aegean, etc). Check the destination consulate's Turkey page first.

What does ikametgah belgesi need to show?

Current MERNİS address registration. Pull a fresh Yerleşim Yeri Belgesi from e-Devlet within the last 30 days. Older copies are rejected.

Which Turkish banks are accepted for financial proof?

Garanti BBVA, Akbank, Yapı Kredi, İş Bankası, Ziraat Bankası are commonly accepted. Statements must be branch-stamped, not just internet banking PDFs.

Do I need SGK hizmet dökümü?

Strongly recommended for employed applicants. Pull it from e-Devlet (free, instant). It is harder to fake than a salary letter alone and consulates trust it more.

Are Turkish documents accepted, or do I need translation?

Official Turkish documents (Kimlik, ikametgah, SGK printout) are accepted by most Schengen consulates in Turkey. Cover letter and itinerary should be in English unless the consulate explicitly accepts Turkish.

How early should I apply?

Apply 4 to 8 weeks before travel for off-peak. For summer (June-August) and Christmas, 8 to 12 weeks. Czech Republic and Denmark often need longer due to high Turkey demand.

How does Visard help?

Visard monitors VFS Turkey portals across Istanbul, Ankara, İzmir and 7 other cities every 3 seconds. When an appointment opens for your destination and registered city, you get a Telegram alert. Combined with prepared documents and SGK printout, this is the fastest path to confirmed appointment from Turkey.
